The Price of Freedom by Jenny Schwartz

What does a terrorist, djinn and a angel have to do with paranormal romance? That was my question when I first stumbled upon this tasty nugget by Australian writer Jenny Schwartz. The story appropriately titled, The Price of Freedom, is a well-crafted fantasy with action, intrigue and passion told through wonderful spin of magic.

I’m not big on fantasy, I don’t believe in dragons or fae. Can’t really understand why a grown woman would find anything romantic about mystical’s. And to be hones the idea of reading Angels having sex makes me squirm uncomfortably. However, one look at the cover and a quick skim of the story synopsis I decided to drop $2 to see if my dismissal of stories like this were unfounded. Thank you Ms. Schwartz, you’ve proven me wrong. Passion can be told in the most unexpected of pairings.

When reading this short tale the first realization is hurled at you quick: there are angels among us. One in particular is beautiful in spirit and heart. Her name is Mischna and she is the guardian angel of a man who has sworn his life to making peace in the Middle East. The story opens with Mischna battling to save the life she is sworn to protect as a plane he travels in hurtles to the earth. Little does she know of the root cause. A Dijinn bound to a life of servitude by King Solomon himself has put a hex on the engines. His name is Rafe and he is forced into an evil act by a terrorist who wants nothing to do with peace. And that’s where the action picks up. The powerful fights and passionate consequences of the guardian angel battling with the Djinn had me riveted. This story made me smile, roll my eyes, sigh and swoon.

By chapter five I was a total believer in the love of these two mythical beings. And by chapter seven I wept with Mischna as her world was ripped apart over the loss of her beloved Rafe to the Dijinn curse. I know in paranormal romances the outcome is not always predictable. But I am happy to say that this one brought about such a feel good emotion over me that I was actually cheering wanting to read more. For that reason and a lot of others I won’t spoil for you this story is a keeper. One I plan to read over again. I love the magic. I love the passion (not steamy but very tastefully crafted). I love the visual way desert loving is described. All in all this is one of those unique paranormals that makes you appreciate the power of love.

For me this is a must read! Be sure to check it out! Read Jenny Schwartz Work Here
